Guizhou Textile Books |
Guizhou is an idea
travel destination for ethnic group textiles. If you have interests
in tribal textiles, you may look for a professional travel company
to arrange your Guizhou tour to see these textiles, especially Miao's
textiles and Miao's embroidery techniques and art crafts. A professional
guide can help you learn these embroidery techniques very quickly,
of course you have to pay more to these professional companies,
their price is not low as the other common company's, it's like
the real Nike shoes and fake Nike shoes sold in two different price
in China.
Before or after your Guizhou trip, if you want to learn more about
Guizhou textiles, you can try to look for some Guizhou textile books
for the information you want, and there are some really good Guizhou
textile books, the books below are the recommended ones for you,
the authors of these books are the best experts on Guizhou textiles,
hope these books are helpful to you.

Book 1: A Picture Album
of China's Miao Costumes and Ornaments
Author, Photographer:
Wu Shizhong
Mr Wu spent more than 30 years to discover the Miao in Guizhou,
Yunnan, Shichuan, Hunan and Hainan and published this excellent
book. In this book, one can see 173 sub branch of the Miao's different
festival costumes, he named these different branches according to
the location-a model town or village, I myself is Miao too, I think
his classification is very scientific, Mr. Wu is a real expert on
Miao costumes, I've learned too much from this book, this is a highly
recommend book.

Book 2: One Needle, One Thread
Author, Photographer:
Tomoko Torimaru
I'm not familiar with this author, so I don't give any detailed
introduction to her. I've read this book carefully, this is an excellent
book on Guizhou Miao embroidery techniques, the information is very
detailed, from the point of mine, I think she is the best field
study expert on Guizhou Miao embroidery techniques.
Of course I heard there is one lady from Japan called " Big
bird", she is also an excellent textile expert, unfortunately
I didn't have a chance to read her works. Hope I can have a chance
to read her works in the future, and I will put on her works on
my web site.

Mr. Zeng and Mrs. Zeng gavee interesting information on Miao embroidery
techniques and explanations for different patterns. Unfortunately,
Mr. Zeng died a few years ago, he has devoted all his life to Miao
textiles and costumes, he is a respected real expert. Fortunately
his daughter-Zeng Li took his job and continues this hard and interesting
