Horse Hair Stitch
 Horse hair stitch is often used to decorate baby carriers by first using a white cotton threads to twin round a thin horse hair equally by hand, then coiling the ready twined horse hair onto outside relief of the pattern according to the pattern of paper-cut, central space will be embroidered design showing a sense of relief. Every piece of horse hair stitch consists of geometrical patterns by mostly using easy and smooth threads. In the end, inlay every part of the designs on the baby carrier, thus creating a beautiful, completely structured, vivid and strong colorful picture. The popular pattern a big butterfly in the center with 4 rectangles, 5 squares and 3 triangles surrounding, they resemble all kinds of big and small rice fields.
  There was one story that we could tell from. The legend said that a child fell in a faint by the side of rice fields from the scorching sun one day, there flew a huge butterfly blocking the sunshine with its twin wings, and the little child was saved. After that, women embroidered butterflies and rice paddies on baby carriers, passing down from the old generation to the younger generation, thus it became the traditional motifs.

  For seeing this special stitch, you have to make a trip to Sandong, Zhonghe and Shuilong, Jiouqian regions of Sandu county and some villages in Libo county. You also can find this stitch on Shui women's shoes.
